Follow These Tips To Stay On Track

Many fall sports have just finished or are about to be completed. This is a great time to look at where you are in your college search process. During these past three months or so you have been very busy with your season, school and life and so have college coaches. Follow these four tips to keep yourself on track.

COMMUNICATE:

There is a little bit more downtime at the moment and coaches are using this time to catch up with emails, phone calls, and letters as well as plotting their recruiting visits of games, club tournaments, all-star games, and showcases. You should be communicating with them on a regular basis (introductory cover letters and resumes) and remember if you are sending emails, make sure that you are personalizing them (no form letters!)…DO THE HOMEWORK!

UPDATE:

The end of the fall season also gives you the chance to update your individual athletic and academic profile with any accolades you or your team may have received, new SAT or PSAT scores and GPA changes.

VIDEO:

Furthermore, you may be working on new videos with the clips you have from your fall season. Make sure to create your YOUTUBE link with 10 minutes of clips of you playing. Each clip should be about 20-30 seconds long. Include any information that you may think is important for the college coach to know.

SCHEDULING:

Finally, this time is a great opportunity to send college coaches your schedule of games, leagues or tournaments that you are going to be taking part in over the next 3 months. Remember, the more communication you have, the better. Take an initiative and show coaches that you are invested in the process and are serious about becoming a college student-athlete!
